WVF PRESIDENT DAN-VIGGO BERGTUN VISITS SCEA CHAIR GEN. WOZNIAK IN WARSAW (POLAND)

From 21-23 January 2016, the WVF’s President, Mr. Dan-Viggo Bergtun visited the Head of the WVF Peace and Security Division, and SCEA Chairman, Gen. Stanislaw Wozniak in Warsaw, Poland. The WVF has four Member Associations in Poland, and also held the 28th General Assembly of the WVF in Sopot, Poland, in September last year. This trip was an important opportunity for Mr. Bergtun to discuss the SCEA’s future operations under its new Chairman, Gen. Wozniak.

65TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE WVF

The year 2015 has special historical significance for all veterans. It marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the 2nd World War, the worst conflict in human history, and the 70th anniversary of the liberation by the allied forces of the last of the concentration camps. It also marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations where so many hopes were placed in the conviction that it was possible and necessary to build a world of lasting peace through dialogue.

The WVF is an international NGO consisting of 172 veteran organizations from 96 countries representing some 45 million veterans worldwide. Since its inception in 1950 it has reaffirmed constantly its strategic mission of international peace and security, drawing on its credo, “None can speak more eloquently for peace than those who have fought in war.”
